Um, Nava? They're very nice, healthy looking birds, but I don't think any of them are Anconas; their legs are black/blue, not yellow. Same with the beaks, (black instead of yellow) and really, there should be some mottling showing up by that age.

I know read post #150 at the very bottom

to find out what they are

There wasn't anything about it on post #150, but I see that later you mentioned the pullets are crossbreeds. I thought they were posted to show someone how a young Ancona looked, but maybe that wasn't what you were talking about at all...I need to go back and read up to that point more carefully.

Are the cockerels out of the same hatch? What breed is the lavender male?

IIt's been my experience that an Ancona crossed on pretty much anything creates a black bird with minimal (if any) mottling; it's usually split between dark slate or black legs and yellow splotched legs, but they always had yellow on the bottom of their feet. I've never had one as pretty as the Ancona/Leghorn cross that was posted on this thread.

She has a very nice rosecomb FarmerKim. (a peacomb has three ridges) Don't guess you remember who you bought her from?
Were there very many Anconas at the national? Any rosecomb birds in the show?

You can always still crossbreed the Ancona/Leghorn and still get purebred Ancona's at the same time; pen your Ancona cock with the Ancona hen and a Leghorn or two. Then you put several drops of food coloring in the vent of the Ancona; She will void most of it, but enough should remain to mark her eggs so you can tell them from the Leghorn hens.

Save them up until you have about a half dozen, then you can just send those "easter eggs" to me...

I don't remember who I bought them from. They were the only rosecomb Anconas that I saw at the show. I actually don't recall seeing any anconas in the show (but I could have missed them).
Thanks for the info on the food coloring.

Well, once you get around to selling hatching eggs, put me on the top of the list. You can PM or email when/if that ever happens.

Depending on what variety of Leghorn you're using, you won't have to mark the eggs; the chicks may or may not all look alike at hatching, but as they feather out, you'll be able to tell them apart.

There was a question sometime back about my possible Ancona. Some told me she is for sure an Ancona and others have said no way.

Now that she is a couple of months old, I wanted to see what you thought.

Here is dottie now:

I put 24 Ancona eggs in the bator Sunday. Wish me luck. I got them from Gabbard farms and was able to meet them instead of shipping the eggs. That should help with the hatch rate.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh. I want my mottled Ancona chicks
