What beautiful chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have three that are about ten days old plus the HOPE HOPE eggs hatching.
This looks like a beautiful breed and am looking forward to raising them. I hope I can keep them somewhat tame. According to the people I got the eggs from they lay a bunch of eggs.

Hey YellowHouse! Long time no see...or maybe i just haven't been able to read as many threads as iwant and keep missing you.

Did you get your birds from Urch?

Wow.. there are not a lot of us with Anconas' to be sure! I ordered 2 from Meyer and they are feathered now but still 1/2 black/yellow. I did notice the prettiest noises coming from the two hens. I keep thinking it is my imagination. Do they really "sing"? Or... I have 1 week old quail and thought it might be them but I think they are too young to make these big beautiful noises! If any of you noticed yours doing anything other than the normal cluck let me know. It woudl be nice to know I'm not loosing my mind!

Mine are a three way mix between Urch, Zillich, and a SC strain. Yours?

You may be able to get RC Ancona eggs or chicks from Duane Urch in MN.

How do I get a hold of Duane? I don't have a bator but my neighbor does maybe she can hatch them for me? or I could make a long trip and pick up chicks. Kim

My first Anconas came from Murray McMurray, I don't know who was providing them eggs back then. But after 20 years, I think I can honestly say they're "my strain"' with a recent infusion of Zillich to get the rose comb genetics.

Do you prefer one strain over the other?
