Ancona Ducks

All of your Anconas are beautiful !!! I ordered 20 ducks from Holderread's.....6 of which are Anconas...delivery for mid March. I love spots ! Can't wait for the kids to arrive. I do wish they sold their ducks sexed. Hope most are girls since I could never eat them either. :-(

My Anconas are about 5 months old and I get 3 eggs a day out of my 4 girls and no extra lights have been provided plus it's been real cold - most of the eggs freeze even though I pick them at 6 AM

They are gorgeous. I dont recall ever seeing them out here in Australia. I will have to go search the net to see..... I would love to know if they do exist out here... They are very attractive birds.

I have 3 out of 13 that are broody, but I have yet to have an Ancona hen go broody AND successfully hatch a clutch. I think we have a good shot at getting a hatch this season. I think the "need" to hatch has been weeded out in favor of egg production. The possibility is there with every hen, sometimes they surprise you, but the likelihood goes down when egg production numbers go up. I hope when the season gets warmer the numbers improve, but from what I have read their broodiness is not one of their strong suits.

I know a duckshow person in Victoria and she said she had never heard of them in OZ they aren't supposed to exist. Many here believe that the Ancona is basically just a mis-marked Magpie duck that were bred away form the true pattern.

STOP THE MADNESS!!!!

Ugh... I want Anconas SOOOO BAD! Along with Calls. Gorgeous ducks everyone - but whats up with the one picture crap?!?!?! HELLO!!! Ancona official droolers over here!!!
