Ancona Ducks

Yay! Yes, single eggs maybe 4 just in case? I have one of those mini advance bators which I thought was a good idea so I didn't go overboard... It's definitely doing it's job because otherwise I would probably get dozens! lol. It's going to be a pain with these goose eggs but still possible.

I am going to be in the area on Saturday we can PM the details! THANK YOU!!

Completely normal. Nice lookin annie too. :)
okay good :). And are the femals normally bigger or smaller than the males because I still cant figure out which is male and which is female. Or if they are the same gender. I also have a pekin that has a pretty loud quack so im think it might be a female. But they are to young for their drake feathers so ive tried to tell by the voice but still not sure. The pekin is the only one with its quack. They anconas still cherp mostly so ive tried to tell by size or the way they act but its not working well lol.

Eventually the male will be bigger. If you can't vent sex you will have to wait until they are 4-6 weeks old to tell by quack.
I have found if I listen close, the quacks are pretty different even at hatch on Anconas most of the time. The girls aare always higher pitched & boys sound a bit raspy right from the start. I have confirmed this by vent sexing as well.

We just got this one...we think it's an Ancona. Really sweet!!

At what age should you start to notice any kind of size difference? We have noticed that one or two of ours (five total) are already larger than the others. I'm also wondering about behaviors that may indicate sex, but I'm also thinking that we might just be so eager to know that we're making things up... :)

Ours are only around 2 weeks old. Still have to wait a couple of weeks to (hopefully) hear some quacking.

Size differences don't mean much at that age. You will be able to sex by quack before size. Around 10 weeks is when I notice my drakes starting to outgrow the hens. By 4 months old it will be a fairly big difference. I can look out my window & tell which 2 are my drakes by their size compared to the 4 smaller hens.

I recently obtained this drake...I did not raise it or breed it. I want your opinion on color, pattern placement, and type. I kind of have my own thoughts about him already but I'd like some other opinions. I know pictures are really tricky...and I've learned that to hard way...but I can provide my guess if anyone out there has any questions. Thanks guys!
