Ancona Ducks

OK i hope it's just because i woke the ducklings up when changing their water but I'm seeing what looks like the early signs of spraddle leg or something. They run just fine but when they are standing or walking slow they seem to "rock back" on their heals. i follow a friend on you tube with a channel called 50 ducks in a hot tub and the few that spraddle leg of his where much worse then mine they couldn't really move. He treated them with niacin and they grew up just fine should i start them on some and most importantly of all do they need a type of niacin for ducks or can i use human niacin on them or am i freaking out over nothing. and yes they are being brooded on towels

You should only give them the no-flush and the not long released (time released?) ones. Probably have to order it online as many I have found state this in the small print.

Then give them 100-150mg/gal water. Shake it up first, then after 15 min shake again. I usually shake also before giving it to them. The turned legs straightened out for me and the one with severe problems standing is one year old and fine now.

They absolutely need niacin! You can use brewers yeast or nutritional yeast (we get nutritional yeast from the store in the spice section) but they need it! Don't wait to go get some! We sprinkle nutritional yeast in there food. Niacin you can just put in there water

no, you do NOT want the flush free or the time released. If you are going with a niacin pill, you need PLAIN niacin.

I use poultry nutri-drench for my ducklings that appear weak.
I feed fermented flock raiser.

The cheapest supplement I have found is Brewer's Yeast. Go to your local feed store or equine store and ask for the Brewer's Yeast supplement that is used for horses. You get a large tub for MUCH cheaper than other places. Sprinkle a tablespoon full or so over their feed. If you feed wet or fermented feed it helps with fermentation as well.

If you are the exact measurement type, if you do a search on here for brewer's yeast for ducks you can find the exact amount recommended to add. I just throw some on. It won't hurt. It is also good for your other animals.

OK i have them on some electrolytes i just ordered both nutri-drench and the niacin just in case if i ordered the wrong type of niacin because it didn't say if it was flush free or time released.
