Ancona Ducks

Wow minihorse! Glad mine came all in spurts cause I would not have been able to house all those babies in our northern conditions!

lols if my parents found out that i hatched out 26 ducklings they would eat me alive.

I have a 3 tier brooder full of ducklings and chicks. Plus I've got 17 ohiki chick's, 2 choc orps, 1 black orp, plus 2 anconas in the nursery

Ok guys, I have to tell you I LOVE my ducks, but Ana and Elsa, my anconas, are brats! Lol! They will eat from my hand and fallow me a bit, but I try to catch them, hold them or pet them and you would think I was trying to kill them how they act! Kristof, my Muscovy, isn't like that at all! She let's me carry her around and had her. She will come to my feet and quack and look at me until I pick her up. What's this about? I got Kristof at five days old, Ana and Elsa were both under 24hrs old. I have held them all every day, talk softy, given treats. Are anconas just not as cuddly and like there space? I still hold and give treats.

Your Ancona's have each other, so they are attached to each other. The Muscovy is the only of her species, so is more likely to seek you out for affection.

One more Ancona question. When did your anconas start laying? I'm just wondering. My husband eats two eggs every morning almost. It's crazy. Then he will often have atleast one more later in the day. Then, because daddy is so cool, my son will want an egg. Sometimes he eats two eggs too. These men are eating up all my eggs and I just want to know when to expect my girls to lay. Can't wait until I can run outside and hunt for eggs in the morning!
