Ancona Ducks

I got up last night worried that all I could see was dark in the air cell of mine. I took each one out, and after inspecting with a magnifying glass for cracks or holes I did the warm water float test that I have read so much about. They all wiggled away! Back in the bator! (couldn't have been more than 2 minutes out). This morning still nothing. At least I feel better knowing they were all ok, even though I couldn't see a thing. I took both air plugs out, per my manufactures instructions. My temp. is still 99-100 with the humidity at 65-70%. I guess my Daisi didn't sit as long as I thought and my days are off. I'm going to just leave them. If they weren't developing at all under her, there is still a week left from when I put them in the bator. I guess I'm just writing this all in case some one else comes across this situation. I still have hope for them surviving.

I'm pretty sure they will come up with a bit of color later, Brisbane. Had 2 all white ones in my last batch too. One has now (4 weeks old) some dark grey coming in (possibly blue or lavender) while the other still has only very faint color on her. Might be lavender too. You will find out for sure after they molt to adulthood.

Memaw, nothing wrong with checking, even at that stage. And since they all move you should be good! Sometimes our ducks fool us to think they've been sitting longer, but only to wait til they have their "perfect" clutch together. Candled my sitting girl's eggs yesterday and in one (tried only bout 4 in bright sunlight when she went to swim) I saw the beak poking at the air sac. I know they were different development ages but at least I know I'll probably have babies in about a week!

The air cells are getting bigger. One is taking up almost half the egg. Is that good, bad, too much moisture, too little? Two are wiggling now, but I'm not touching anything!!

My third started rocking a little bit ago. When I shine the light, I think I see something pushing up, then down. If I was just guessing(and that's all it is!) I'd say it's trying to internal pip, it just gets tired. Oh, I don't know!! This is so nerve wracking! I wish I know for sure how long she was really incubating before the snake scared her. She may have just been practicing for a few days!?

So Sam, are you saying "Lockdown" is pretty much when they internal pip, or three days before hatch date, or whichever comes first?
