And my birthday present is.........yeahhhhh

WOW great gift! My MIL went last year and is taking my kids there this next year for my son's graduation present. SHe took them both to Hawaii for my daughters graduation present. They were there for that big earthquake! My son said he was standing in line at McDonalds there and he fell over in line.

Oh you'll have a GREAT time!! I absolutely LOVE Florence - so many things to see there and I have never had enough time in the cathedrals and I've been twice.

Happy Birthday!

I have been to Rome...

Italy is just AMAZING.

Do bring a camera and take all the pics you can handle... Try gelato... Visit the old churches... Check out the fashion.

...but be very careful of crime such as pickpocketing, especially at popular tourist sites. No precaution is too much. I didn't get anything of mine stolen, but I kept my camera on a neck strap UNDER my coat and wore a traveler's waist pouch to keep my money in. A friend I was with had her camera stolen out of her coat pocket, and she never noticed!

Italy is such a magical place. I loved my times there. Take a day trip to Sienna if you get overwhelmed in Florence by the tourists.

Lucky you, not having to deal with the USD-euro exchange rate!

Lucky you. I lived in Germany for several years. I loved it there. I would love to go to Italy and take a tour around the "mobsters" stomping grounds. I am a huge Soprano fan. Have a great trip. I do get to go down Padre Island in a few weeks. We are going to bring our travel trailor and camp on the beach for a week or so.

Have fun! I am so jealous!! My parents went on a three week tour of Europe and my mom's favorite was there time in Italy. They are planning on going back. Why oh why can't I go too??? Maybe it's cause I'd have to leave my DH and kids??

Congratulations, English Chick...I know you'll enjoy the trip...

My best friend is Italian and she went with her family and I got a picture postcard of David's nether bits. LOL I guess they also went to a ruin that used to be a house of ill repute and there were nether bits graffitoed on the walls...
