Last March, we purchased a new home on 12 acres in central NC. Due to time constraints and the general stress of moving, I had to "commission" a local coop builder to build something so we could move our 5 girls with as little stress as possible. It was always gonna be a "temporary" coop. A year and a half and many, many modifications later, I am finally getting around to a new coop design.

Overall size is 10' x 20' with a 6' x 8' coop (the rest is run).

Here's a link to the start of the design. Feel free to comment or make any reccomendations.

Yeah, I don't want to do that, I doubt others would either.

There we go!
Not sure you want an enclosed coop in your climate.
will have a fair bit of windows and whatnot...just started sketching it up this weekend... but thanks for the input

You could save a little wood and make it a 3 sided coop/run. If you really want a 4th wall on the inside it doesn't have to be a full length wall. As long as the entire coop and run is secure from predators. Our coop has walls on 3 sides on 1 half of the coop, the other half is wire. Love it, it's easier to deal with overall. It's like a house with an open floor plan. During the worst part of winter I covered one end with a tarp to block the wind and removed by spring. They all did just fine. HTH.
