And so the build begins.....

Looks good! the only problem i see is the size of the run. You do plan on letting them out right? Thats hardly enough space for them to stretch their legs..

The run hasn't even started to be built yet. The smaller enclosed space (chicken jail) is my high security prison for when I have to be gone working 16hr days. That way they at least get a chance to feel the breeze, even if they won't have full run access. The majority of time, I anticipate the jail being closed since they will have outside run access through the side of the coop.....

That looks great! Me and my dad are aout to start making our own coop and we are looking at designs and plans and I like yours!

More progress! The other two sides are paneled up and I started work on insulating the interior this afternoon. closer............ clooooossssseeeerrrr........

The back (with screen panel in the middle - I'm building a "storm window" to cover it in the winter).......

The chicken exit

nest boxes ready to be finished

insulation fun

The first interior panel is installed!

Looking good! We thankfully have a HUGE barn that came with our place but I need to build a run and also finish the coop side as there are decently large gaps on the new side of the barn as it is unfinished. So i want to get all of that set up for the chickens. I cant wait!

My wife and I made a addition to our coop today,we added on nesting boxes, want be to long and they will be laying eggs!

Creeping toward the finish line....

I am majorly burnt out on trying to get this *&$# thing built. And I hate to paint. or prime. or caulk. So these last few stages are wearing me down..... ANYWAY....

My first screen window. what a pain in the bum to build that thing square.

Interior walls in. (and can I just say that having the insulation in makes a huge difference in how fast the coop heats up in the morning. Love it!)

One side primed and ready for the color.

Interior caulked and primed.

Exterior primed and ready for paining.

And The Girls. Patiently waiting for me to get my act together.

Nice job!!! I know what you mean about keeping things square. My husband really fretted about it, and during the build he'd apologize for anything half a bubble off of plumb...but now, a year later, we don't notice the imperfections anymore, and the chickens have not yet complained! Keep going...you're almost there!

Here's ours...not because anyone asked to see it, but just because it's fun to show off!
