It's summer time now.

Maybe some of you recall that for nearly a decade I've lived in this home and have used sheets-- non-matching spares, and even fitted ones over my windows as curtains.

Come May my mom had had enough and took me shopping for a birthday present... curtains. I chose some muslin tab tops from JcPennys and then got black rods with a @ kind of scroll at the ends---they look really classy with my cast iron stove... It's absolutely beautiful. Very nice to have real curtains now.

Well, I live in my childhood home and it has no air. I have put window units up in 2 bedrooms upstairs and also in the living/dining/kitchen open area.

To try to contain the area and make it smaller so the air can cool it better... I have resorted to hanging a sheet at the top of the stairs, and a sheet in one of the bedroom doorways-- I had a door but a goof ball "handy man"-- and I use that term loosely --butchered it for it needed to be shaved a little bit on the bottom to fit the door space after I had new carpet installed...but he wrecked it. Anyway... I have a sheet on my door. And right off the kitchen I have a shower curtain on a tension rod in a door way.

I know, I know... you are thinking that's so classy.

But hey....it's cool now.

Hey now, dont be dissing on the sheets... maybe someone will feel bad for us and make us some curtains LOL

I have TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES sheets over the sliding glass door, and another window in the living room. My daughters room.... her window is covered with a broken down box that fits nicely.... and in my room.... we have a hawaiian beach towel and some other green ungodly looking sheet of some sort..

wayyyy to go

What ever works! You know sometimes sheets hanging on curtain rods make nice curtains. If you are comfy in your house, then that is all that matters. Congrats on the new curtains, that is an awesome gift

I have an curtain on a tension rod hanging at the bottom of my stairs, so we are not cooling the upstairs that isnt in use. My mom had made me some curtains for my old house had a large picture window. I use one panel to block the upstairs.

We live in my MIL's childhood home, luckily the house had forced air heat and when we remodelled the kitchen, I demanded C/A.

I have bought lots of great priced curtains and bedding at overstock.com

My grandma always made her curtains out of sheets. I think it's neat. You have a much better selection of colors and patterns!

No but seriously heman, thundercats, garfield, mickey mouse, ninja turtles. NONE of this new crud... all 1985 and below...

Hey ... Sheets are cheep in comparison to Curtains.
Go to a white sale and buy plain ones... or garage sales ext.

I personally have nothing on most of my windows.
And I sew!!! But my windows are Beautiful and don't need the ornamentation of curtains ... lol I also have beautiful views from the windows.

Besides they get dirty and need to be taken down to wash then put back up. To much work fore me ...lol

Hey Ive done it too. I lived in a house once where I had to do that to contain the heat, the door was so drafty. And the shower curtain thing, I thought that was my great idea...who snitched.

And yes when you cant afford curtains you make them very easily out of sheets. Ive done it when I couldnt find the color I wanted for my kids room.

I found these tab top curtains at pennys for 7.99 per panel, so it really wasn't that bad of a deal.

On the smaller windows I just used one panel but on the 2 big windows I needed several panels.

I hear ya on the taking down and cleaning... I have one window my dogs lay under and those have black fur on them. oh well. i love my dogs and don't mind the curtains.

i have a beautiful front view but have neighbors on the back and sides and for the most part there are trees and a privacy fence but their house is taller than my fence. grrr... darn construction planner. They put that subdivision up when i was in the 3rd grade...so my dad built a privacy fence... then when the people built a deck...it was so up high they could walk out and look right over the fence.

My poor dad. I still loved when he'd tell that story. He was such a story teller. ha ha ha.
