This breaks my heart. An icon of an era that is almost gone if not all gone. I thought he was so kind and understanding and to live in Mayberry....that would've been the best . Opie had it made

RIP Sheriff Taylor....

Never heard of that movie either!

I love the way the characters all fit in to make a good show like Andy Griffith's. You don't find those kind of shows anymore!

In my twenty-one years, some actors/actresses, singers, and others in the entertainment industry that I've greatly admired and respected have died (the year Katharine Hepburn died was the year that she was already becoming my most favorite actress), and while I certainly was saddened, I didn't really cry. Within minutes of hearing this news, I started crying. It's almost like, in a sense, he was part of the family. Both my mother's and father's side watched the show growing up, and then my brother and I were brought up with The Andy Griffith Show in the nineties, as well as Matlock. It's ironic, but I'd recently been thinking about purchasing Matlock on DVD even though it comes on our T.V nearly everyday (we do have The Andy Griffith Show).

He will never die in our hearts and minds. He's in that real 'Mayberry', up in the sky.

So true MG Chicky. I teared up also and I think alot of it is because I always wanted to live in Mayberry from the time a was a little girl til now. And now that our Mayberry icon is gone it's like the dream has gone with him. I know that sounds sappy.

Reminds me of Summer time in the early 90s. Not old enough to stay home alone and grandma was cheaper than day care and loved watching me. Every day we had our routine. We would watch Price Is Right, Perry Mason, she'd make me lunch and then we would watch Matlock. Andy had a good run.
