Angel Wing or just plain growing up?

You can also get vet wrap from Tractor Supply company.... IF you don't have any farm/feed stores by you, I suggest getting the "Hurt free" wrap from either target or walmart... IT's in the first aid section. It's more expensive, but it works the same way.

Vet wrap or self stick tape (for humans) drug store for self stick tape, feed or farm supply for vet wrap. Unless you are good buddies with the vet the office visi tis going to be very expensive tape. BTW onesided angel wing is not uncommon there is even a perferred side if you do the research

Vet wrap is also known as Coban when it's used in humans. You can get it at the drug store in various widths. It's expensive I'll warn you.

Looks like angel wing to me too. And angel wing more commonly emerges on the left side if it is only in one wing.

Good luck.

It's angel wing and I disagree about the protein.

"When a young bird eats calorie-dense, nutritionally poor foods — like bread — the growth of its feathers outpaces the development of its wing bones. Gravity pulls the heavy feathers down, and the growing bones twist outward, resulting in a syndrome known as “Angel Wing.” Bandages and physical therapy can correct the condition in young birds, but it is incurable in adults, and affected birds lose the ability to fly."

My birds all eat 28% protein game bird feed. Their favorite snacks are high protein...worms, cat food, duckweed...

I hatched out 14 ducklings this spring. They all ate the game bird feed. Zero cases of angel wing.

I buy my vet wrap at any Horse related store-all vets have it, dont know how much the will charge you though, depends on if they are into making money or a rural vet that helps people out. I pay close to $2.00 but I know when I worked a vet we charge $15 to $20 per "bandage change" for a 1/4 to 1/3 of a roll. I know you can order it online but I dont know if you want to wait that much time to start taping wings-good luck with your baby

I have to agree with that...I've hatched well over 100 Calls this year, and while I haven't done the math on the final count as I still have eggs in the bator, only one came up angel winged, which I was able to correct. All ducklings were on the same diet.

You may have to use duct tape...it's ugly and tears out a lot of feathers, but this clever girl was able to get out of everything else!

I had to use duct tape as well. Goofy duck kept getting the wrap off. I used eye makeup remover to help get the tape off so I didn't pull out too many feathers.

There is a pic somewhere on the forum of a duck all wrapped up but I can't find it. The duck looks like a little burrito

Anyone else find a link?
