Angel Wing or just plain growing up?

Smartie pants - My Muscovys looked like that too. I think it's normal. See what other people think.

again and again wifezilla , you did not read my post !When feathering out ONLY!, what part of that do you not understand

I understood what you said, it just isn't logical. In the wild, would a mallard duckling during feathering out who started life eating invertebrates, small fish, frog eggs, duckweed, worms, etc... suddenly have reduced access to these items naturally to prevent them from getting angel wing? Nope. And why don't we see angel wing in wild ducks? It is in captive populations and wild population where they are fed bread by people.

again people you heard both sides make your choice

Exactly

Im positive that any duck left to his own is not going to ingest more animal matter than plant matter or do you dispute this also?and we all know animal matter is 100% protien where as plants and veggies mostly nil ..there you have it also duck weed is one of the only plant species with high protien content(ironic its called that) most all other plants that ducks ingest have little to none. Also duckweed is a highly invasive species, when introduced almost impossible to stop except by chemical warfare and will blanket a pond or lake entirely(bad stuff in my opinion)

Meal worms:
Fat 27.2%, Protein 49.6%, Carbohydrates 6.9 grams/100, Calories 471 calories/100 grams

Earth worms:
–80 to 85% water
–protein: 68-70%,
–lipid: 7-8%,
–carbohydrate 12–14%,

Duckweed
43% crude protein, 5% lipids

Clover
28 percent protein

and your point is???????? and earth worms can some times cause diseases in your ducks fact

Well, regardless of the causes of angel wing, the problem seems to have corrected itself. I wrapped for a few hours for two days and it made some difference I think, but it was more a gradual progression towards the normal tucking of the wing as time went on, and now that the feathers have come in a bit more, it is to the side.
Quite an interesting debate, I would hope for more scientific experiments on the matter for those who have the resources to have a control group, a protein rich group, and a carb rich group. I also think that it may be more than a genetic/protein/carb things. I have not heard any ideas about an excess or deficiency in a specific or group of vitamins/minerals as a possible explanation.

One of those days they will know what the exact cause is. At this point we have one tool to correct and that is wrapping. Done early one it does not take much to fix it. I'm glad it worked well for you.
