Angel wing????

As far as fixing, I wrapped it by slipping a sock over him. So hopefully it will help him to tuck it back in. I have read that as long as you catch it early you have a better chance of fixing it.
These are my first ducks ever. They are muscovy. Thanks!
Wow I’m really surprised it’s as severe as it is at his young age. Poor pumpkin. I know you will make sure he’s all better.:hugs

Ok, I’ll keep an eye on him (at least we think it’s a boy, no quacking out of either of them so assuming both male) and hopefully he’s just readjusting- thank you all for your help!:love

And not that I am an expert, I am a newbie actually, but the Duck Life can teach us quickly...

Almost all of my ducklings exhibited some form of that wing-xer-cise when those blood feathers start pulling down on those young muscles. The exercise is twofold, it serves to facilitate blood flow in the newly growing feathers and it strengthens the muscle. It looks funny, but it is normal. What to look for? Look for an outward bend. Put your hands together and then fan out the top fingers (on edit: or look at the pictures posted previously...lol), your looking for something like that when they do the pull back up. If you see that when they pull back up and it does not slip under or nearly under, then start watching, if you can see a noticeable difference in a few days of observation, then go ahead and wrap. I did. I am glad I did.

I am retired. I watch my ducks. They teach me stuff.

Maybe because muscovy grow differently? I have been watching it for a good week or so. It kind of just stuck out, but once it started turning, then I knew it was angel wing.
