ANGRY....Teacher Put Hands On My Child in a not so good way!!!!

I agree with australorpchick, if you dont make an official complaint yourself, they can say you didnt file a report in a timely manner and completely throw the case out. EVEN if it seems the school is doiung everythin on thier end, they havent actualy had you sit down and write out your case and sign it and date it and had your daughter do it also. I would call the school board and also maybe the police station and ask if you need to file your own report, since the only police report was made by the school against the teacher, there isnt one in YOUR name against the teacher

you may also want to contact a lawyer. most lawyers will give you a free consultation, then you can keep him/her on retainer in case the chicken fertilizer hits the fan

I agree with all the comments. I do think that a report should be written in your handwriting and another in your daughters. Make several copies. Give one to the school board and one to the police. Having this dealt with in a timely manner is most important and if you do not want to talk with the local news media now be prepared to do so if the problem is not resolved in the manner that is satisfactoy to you and other parents. In fact I would unite with other parents as sort of a support and advocacy group. There is stength in numbers and one person alone can not be as stong as a big group.

I did make a report and ask to file charges of assult on a minor. My daughter has spoken with a DCFS worker at my house for a report. She has made a report at the school. Now the principal has notified the super! My question is should I contact them (school board/super) on monday because I was told I had to go through the chain of commands! Start at the principal and they will take care of it!

remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Make yourself a "nuisance" (well a moderate nuisance, don't go crazy or it will get counter productive) by being involved in the process step by step and making sure it doesn't get dropped, and make absolute sure you know the school rules by heart and go through the chain of command thoroughly.

Don't listen to what the school says to do , go by what the book says, contact a lawyer, the media, and the police and have a report filed in your own words

A complaint to who?

With the school/school district. Like you mentioned, you have to go through the chain of command. However, you can only get to the next link of the chain after you have exhausted all possibility with the first link. For instance, there was an ancient teacher at my kids middle school last year. This woman should have been forced to retire at least 15 years ago. She was on her third generation of students. She couldn't remember her students names, tell them apart, lost track of what subject she was teaching and her grammar and spelling were horrible. She was the Pre-AP English teacher

. We pushed our daughter to finish her big project and she turned it in early. She brought it before school started, handed it to the teacher, who put it on the front white board. The teacher ended up loosing my daughter's project and since the project could not be found, not only did she give my daughter a zero on the project, she wouldn't let her give her presentation, another zero. My daughter's grade went from an A to a D. I called the Principal, who told me he would take care of it. Waited a couple of weeks and nothing. Called him back and was told the teacher denied it and he had to go with what the teacher said, blah, blah, blah and gave me the run around for another week and refused to meet me in person. I tried calling the Superintendent, but I think it would have been easier to get through to the White House. I had to file a formal complaint and list my demands. I marked on my calendar the day I could go to the next step. I filed the second level complaint the morning that I could. I received a last minute call from the principal wanting to setup an appt., I turned him down and proceeded with my complaint. Once the district saw my complaint, they contacted me, had the teacher drop ALL of the zero grades (which the principal swore wasn't possible). The teacher now has this complaint on her record, the principal got in trouble for not taking care of the matter and my daughter earned her A.

The school won't tell you when and how to get to the next link, that's up to you. Like KristyHall said about squeaky wheels!

I found that sending them a well typed letter stating the facts and the law and clearly marked "Exhibit A" really gets their attention
