Animal abuse?!?

Its absolutely animal abuse!!! By now it's way beyond ignorance. Who the hacksaw doesn't know animals need a constant supply of water and feed in this case?

Bless your heart for worrying about these poor birds. I can understand how infuriating this situation is for you, but in my book you have to put the animals before the relationship. Maybe whomever you report them too can help maintain the relationship.

Honestly, if you're that scared to make waves, give the Ag Dept person a plain T-shirt and tell them your "friend" just happens to work for the Ag Dept. and you wanted to show your friend their cool (whatever breed) they have. It almost seems like you need a soft sell way of getting them to get their head out of their butts. A casual, "You know, you could be cited for blah, blah, blah. I'll be visiting Maidenwolf again in two weeks. I'll check to see how your progress is going." Heck, I'd go to such lengths for innocent, trapped and helpless animals.

Well that sounds like a good idea, after thinking it over, I really dont want or care to keep any kind of open lines between us at all. My only worry was the seeking revenge on me, example: every evening I let my birds out at 6pm and text her so she can let her dog out ( because I have tried for 2 years to get them to keep him on a lead wit no luck because that would mean them leaving the porch to hook him up) becausehe comes in my yard if he sees us out and has chased my cat off 3 times this month so I didnt want my birds hurt. I was afraid that she would let him out just to get back at me but if that would happen I have the right to defend my birds and or property I plan on keeping my gun with rubber bullets handy when this all goes south. This cant keep goin on like this, and I will not watch it anymore. Keep the ideas, tips and opinions coming you all are helping me alot..

I would really lose my cool if they tried to send the dog on you. I think its for the best keeping the gun with you.
Do they even take care of their dogs?
I think its a bad situation all around, for the chickens, dogs, kids and whatever other animals they have. Are you still feeding the chickens?
If they didn't have any food, I would sneak out in the middle of the night and throw some in there, they would eat in the morning because chances are those chickens get up a lot earlier than their 'owners'. I know mine get up at about 4 and start crowing.

I saw that you said you were moving, hopefully? Well, if that's soon and you're at least down the street from them, then I would make the call. Its absolutely animal abuse and they need to know that its wrong. Either the authorities can help them or take the birds and/or other animals.

And, I'm not above coming to Missouri and stealing someones abused chickens!

Absolutely I still throw feed and scratch and fruits for them. They never come outside and their coop borders my yard so they never know I'm there or that I have given them anything, even when there was a watermelon rind in there for 2 days that I put out for themto get all the leftover yummy melon off. so they get the help I give which still isnt enough feed, The kids and the animals are neglected, they already are going through trial for child abuse... hhhhmmmm I wonder why???!!!!
I am looking to move it just may not be until next year. But I am going to find someway to do it where it isnt my fault.. My daughter is best friends with the girls over there and I dont want her to lose them because of me. I think I may tell them the while they were gone I saw a van pull up and a man was peering in the coop at the chickens. so when I call the AG dept it looks like it was the mystery man. I need to save the chickens but cant break my dausghters heart.

Which I completely understand. You're a good parent because you're trying to help your daughter salvage a friendship. To be honest I'm so glad that you're these peoples neighbor, because you can handle the tough stuff!
I think the van idea sounds like a good idea. Good luck to you, and I would like to thank you on behalf of the other crazy chicken loving people and parents, because you're trying to do what is right.

Thank you!! I have been trying so hard and weighing my options that is when I started throwing food for the birds. Now that I have a plan I am going to put it into action on monday, I thank you all for all your in put and support this has been super challenging. I dont like seeing animals in distress and on top of it all the kids... It makes me sad and angry all at the same time. I can save the animals and hopefully the state helps those kids when they go to court.

Why don't you try letting your landlord know the neighbors are using the broke down shed trailer as a animal hording coop and the animals are in horrendous conditions. Tell him its a health issue for everyone. (normal landlords react quickly to these types of situations but you know yours might be different) Give THAT a try first. You never know.

The landlord might share your feelings and views... plus I cant imagine it smelling any kind of healthy in there...

I supplied materials from my scrap lumber masterpiece coop so they could build one, finally when I offered to help ( I did 75% of the work) we got a coop put up. I did the basic walls and told them they needed to do te rest like a floor in the coop and roosts etc, that still isnt done but its up and the birds have been in it for 2 months so cant do anything there.I am stopping all comunication with these people, today I got word that I am no longer to throw food in to their birds, that they are perfectly capable of feeding their birds. I was accused of stealing from them and that I am not to come on their property.. So back to plan A call the authorities..

Oh back to plan A indeed! These people sound completely nuts! I think now, you've done all you can do. You've donated the coop materials, you've fed them, you've spent a lot of time agonizing over their birds and you've done more than enough! AHHHHH I just want to punch people like this!
