one of our babies got attacked and killed by an animal (we think raccoon) this morning. i do not want more ducks but i decided we are gonna go pick up two new ducklings tonight as friends for the other duck (i really don’t want to our just her in with the 3 boys) does anyone have an suggestions on introducing her to the ducklings. also she is SO scared and is sitting in ours laps all day not doing anything else. how can we help her?

Just try to keep her relaxed. Speak soothingly to her. Maybe it would help her relax if you put on some quiet classical music, like you would to make a baby sleep?

I thought the 3 boys were living with someone else? How did the raccoon get your duck? Was it left outside on its own?
the boys are with a relative, i meant i don’t wanna take her there and leave her alone with three adult boys. we didn’t notice a small opening in the pen that the raccoon got into. we tried to find female ducklings but could only find a place that will give us one female and one male, would that work?

Well, that opening in the pen must not be that small for a raccoon to get in and you better get that taken care of before getting another duck!

Keep her relaxed. Give her treats. How many ducks are you going to have all together? 1 male and 2 females(including the new ones you are getting)? If that is correct then it might work. Right now any company will be good for her but there may be over mating in the future(don't worry about that right now tho right now worry about getting your girl relaxed).

we have 3 other boys (staying at a relatives house until we move) but they’ll be in separate pens once we get them back. i’ll be getting a male and a female ancona
