Animal attacked my Rouen...not sure what to do.

My wife shook her head and muttered something about madness.

A dog helping you raise ducklings, are you mad?

Nope, I'm just ducky...happiest I've been in ages. :wee
I’m sure all dogs are different, but my wiener dog thought all the ducklings were her babies. She’d pick them up and bring them back to her. Just to have them run off again. She was a good Momma.

@Patrick McKee Im so glad the closing of this week has turned out so well for you. Congratulations on raising such a high achieving child!!:clap:clap:clap

I’ll pm you about the cayugas.;)

Thank you so much! This has been a roller coaster week, and everyone here has been so supportive and I have learned so much.

She is muddling away right now, I exposed a slug and worm filled tree base area with the hose...tempted to let her go, but my metric is that she is able to stand on bad leg and scratch her face...she tries and can scratch with the bad leg (left) now, but it can not support her weight yet, so no go back today...sorry mrs Piggie.

I look forward to the adventure.

And just an aside..my son is helping to raise me, I am just his chauffeur. I'm a little bit country and he is so much rock and roll, just like momma.

Love and Ducks...

Ok, she scratched her face, I let her go this morning, I went swimming and saved her from drowning...her oil washed off pretty quickly.

Drakes were all over her, LG attacked and tried to mount her. They were in middle of pond and I couldn't get them...had lettuce, enticed others to shore...she was drowning and could not swim as well so she was struggling to get out, but flapped into the middle when I tried to grab her.

They all went in after her, DJ got her near shore and pushed her under, I dove in and grabbed her and then stood up, about 3 feet of water and carried her back to the pen. She did not struggle at all.

I put her down, she walked inside and got in her water tub and cleaned the pond off her and is now preening happily like this was all planned.

No video. Dropped phone at first attack...lol

Wow so glad you were there. It may be a while before she can go back with the rest.

Last night, the mother of my son and potential duck momma, said two more weeks let her live with your puppy...

I think two more weeks was correct. The other females just roll her like jelly...she had no defense.

I guess my puppy shares the porch with Medical Patient 1 and potential friend.

This duck needs a guardian angel...

.....sshhhhshh, I'm still hatching ducklings...that will seal Rain as protector

Oh and I have video, just not willing to advertise the comical...me dripping carrying a duck holding her to me like a pillow and she just let it happen, no flap at that point.

Yea, my security camera caught it all. Maybe someday... I'm working on editing the phone video of her first attempt up to phone drop...

Thank you Mrs Lydia!

I have a friend who has 2 LSGD and so far both have killed or maimed some of her ducks so some serious training your in for. Can't say these 2 should have the title LSGD not yet anyway.
.

I am here all the time and that puppy will not leave my side. A wrongful glance at a duck will get a warning. I have trained animals before...horses, dogs, cats. My mom was a rescue mom and then help found and fund a no kill pet shelter.

So I am hoping that a little love, tenderness and being with me at all times from hatch to brooder to field with the eggs I get will make this dog a true ducks friend.
