Have yourself a beer friend! You've earned itI took vitamins. And i had it easy, she is a strong duck. All that pond activity and foraging must have helped.
Tonight she was standing at the bottom of the steps to the porch after dark. The crew was there all day but took off at dusk. She quacked a lot and preened and then when it got dark stood at the base like "hey man, my foot? 'member?" I helped her on the first little step and then she made the rest and walked to the water and drank and ate some lettuce and grubs I put in there.
As for being tired, yes I am, but I mowed and got out the weed eater for the fence line. You see I got water moccasins now too...the ducks point them out and I knock them down. It is funny how they watch me kill a snake.
Personally, i think I deserve a beer. The duck is resting. The crew is on alert (I had to put down another large raccoon this morning), and I had to finish a couple of honey do's.
I am done for the day though. All ducks are fed and as happy as can be...she is on the road to recovery and soon she will be back to the wild of my backyard duck pond.
Night...
It was a really rough week, but I think your going in the right direction now. Place looks great and she is doing good. They heal so fast too. So hopefully the worst is behind ya'll and you can relax about her anyway and concentrate of those predators and snakes. Never a dull moment eh?
That's what we do, stick together when one of us needs it. We're just thrilled you both made it through.
Only thing is if the drakes get rough they may open her wounds back up I know you have to go away just hope she is healed enough by the time you leave she doesn't have a relapse while your gone.
