Animal Carcass anyone?

I have a friend that moved here from South America, where she had a good friend who ranched & raised chickens. It was pretty remote and you couldn't go buy a bag of feed very easily. So her friend would go hunt a wild hog, dump the entire carcass in the chicken coup, and the chickens would pick it clean in a few weeks. She says it smelled TERRIBLE but it was the best tasting chicken she's ever had. So. Anyone have any experience with this? I know my guys like raw meat... but rancid meat?? Wouldn't that kill the chickens? I honestly don't know if I could try it but I wouldn't be opposed to perhaps a leg or smaller hindquarter from one of my hunting buddies.

Welcome! I know that it's done, and chickens are omnivores and will eat it, but UGH! I don't want to eat scavengers, or their eggs. Mary

Take a middle of the road approach, dump trash fish in the coop. That is smaller and is cleaned much sooner.
