Animal screams coming from the woods

I encountered that while hunting in the mountains of northern Georgia. Will make every hair on your body stand on end. Spooky stuff!

Hey, I live on 40 acres of dense pine forest. Hearing anything scream like a woman in the pitch black darkness is terrifying, even when you know what it is.

Friends of mine had their male pit bull tunnel underneath it’s dog house to hide. After one showed up on night after dark. He said that dog was never the same.

I agree with calling your game and fish department, or dept. of wildlife, or whatever it’s called in your area. Let them know what you’re hearing in the area near the herons. They will either be able to help you, or offer advice for what you should do.

Just a quick question have you heard a loon scream? on vacation once in WI and had never heard a loon scream before kinda freaked me out when it happend

The best way I can describe a bobcat scream is what you’d think a pterodactyl would sound like That was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard one and I haven’t been able to explain it better since

Could be a Fisher cat or a Red Fox calling for a mate. They scream at night mostly. They look like a large weasel. Here link to the sounds of the Fisuh guy yuu&u<<u,.,her cat.

If it was calling back it's definitely some kind of communication and not something in distress. Can't speak for the crazy wildlife over in the States, but foxes sound like they're in agony when they talk to each other. It's very unnerving. This video doesn't even touch on what I've heard from them.

Foxes are known for their blood chilling scream in mating season.

Also, this video just scared the crap out of my rabbits. Oops. Funny, the cougar one didn't even make them flinch.

Those are two other names for the cougar being discussed in this thread.
