Animals are disappearing from my ranch...

Quote:
we run the ranch at different times. Its strange.. the adult animals are never gone... its always the young ones... and smaller ones... never the larger ones... When my turkeys went missing, the were about 6 months old before they started to dissapear... Im definatly setting up the camera today...

and Its not like I can take RAnger to the blue ranch, cause he will find his way back to the Yellow Ranch... Ranger know every inch of the 400 acers... and If i lock him up at the blue ranch.. he will cry and cry for his girlfriend Josie.

I understand, but your dogs are more like guard dogs, Livestock Guardian Dogs bond to their animals and wouldn't leave them. Your dogs are guarding you and your property. You need some Maremma's, Anatolian Shepherds, Great Pyrenees or other similar dogs, bred just for this reason.

my vote is for 2 legged predators!!!!!!!! People will come up in the middle of the night and snatch stuff! very JERKS~

Oh, yeah..................nice ranch

We bought 2 Great Pyrenees for the goats... and it turns out that the Great Pyrenees were killing goats when we were not looking and then would take off during the day and return before we got out of work.. and the reason I know this is because I went to the blue ranch one morning and noticed the Great Pyrenees across the street... and went to check the animals and vacinate the goats... It took about 3 hours to catch all the goats and give them there shots.. thats when i notied the dogs comming back to the ranch... so in my experience, Great Pyrenees are bad dogs..

I am sorry you had a bad experience, but that is what it was, a bad experience. I am not an expert and without more details, couldn't tell you why this happened but there are lots of reasons. If you are interested in more info, I can point you to a LGD list that is great at helping people with their dogs, training, questions, etc.

tex, I also think you have human predators.

But please think about this- you have just told and shown almost 55,000 strangers and a world of lurkers EXACTLY where to find your ranch and EXACTLY what your schedule and ranch management practices are! As well as what is there to steal and what kind or protection you have.

Please PM a mod to delete the thread.

I have noticed a creek or river running the entire south boundy of your ranch. you may walk out the edge of the stream or wash to find foot tracks. Has there been any mountain lion reports in your area. You may have one working your ranch.

I may not have any intention, but BYC is fully "googleable". Anyone can access it.
A good explanation in words, like it takes this long to walk or drive the length, and between the two living areas, and the terrain involved is sufficient for us

And I to think two legged.
All young? Easy to snag quickly.

Any chance you could set up some sort of electrified ground wire that is hard to see?
One of you can then sneak down there and hide during your normal away time.
Maybe let word out that a new batch of babies has arrived at point B?
