For some reason, the last six or so years I have had many, many dreams about wild orcas. It's in the hundreds or thousands, I think. There's nothing in particular in my conscious mind that I think would trigger this, and yet it seems orcas show up in many or most of the dreams I can remember. They play many different roles, and sometimes they even appear in the dreams that seem like an orca wouldn't fit in. It's to the point where I'll often tell the people who are in my dreams that orcas often appear in my dreams!

I can't help but feel it has some significance, especially because often the dreams are very emotional and I can truly understand the power and magnificence of these animals. I haven't figured out what the meaning is yet, but I'll keep thinking on it. Because this has become such a recurring dream, orcas have taken on a special meaning to me, and now I have a goal to see some wild orcas someday. I even had an unusual encounter with a stranger in a coffee shop that ended with the woman telling me she's kayaked with orcas many times, and that I should go to Alaska to see them. I think it's really interesting that they've become such a symbol to me, especially because it wasn't a conscious thing at all. I feel like perhaps there's a reason, and that the orcas will lead me to something important eventually in some way or another.

Does anyone else have certain animals that appear to you often in dreams, or have some sort of symbolic meaning to you? It doesn't need to be as overpowering as mine, nor so unconscious--if you just have an animal that you chose yourself to represent you or something important, that's fine, too!

As odd as that is, there's likely a normal explanation. It's probably a snowball effect, you saw orcas so much in a few dreams that you began wondering about a possible meaning, which you think about just before you fall asleep. It may even just be a fleeting thought, but your questions about potential meaning are likely what is causing the admittedly bizarre recurrence of orcas.

No, I am not a psychologist, this just seems to be the most logical explanation. Call me cynical, but there is likely no meaning.
