Anne Rice has a new book coming out!!!

I have been a fan for decades. I read somewhere that she has published under 17 different names. At one time I knew about 5 of the names. I think most of her names have the initials A.R.

I have the series you mention, but don't think I should say here on BYC. It is definitely for adults only. If anyone is interested you can PM me for info.

I loved AR books, then she started doing religious writings and I lost interest.

Yes, unfortunately she has decided to retire the Vampire and Witch characters. She went through a sort of revival of her devotion to religion, leading to the Jesus and Seraphim series. Then she stated a disappointment (to put it mildly) in organized religion, deciding to focus on the traditions of Catholicism rather than the Catholic Church. Seeing that there's a book about a werewolf coming out means a return to the "non-religious" paranormal, her first in eight years. I have mine pre-ordered.

:-)

I remember reading years ago that she wrote Interview with a vampire in a alcohol blackout. Her 9 year old daughter had just died, she was drinking heavy, started writing to block the pain.

I remember something to that effect as well. However, I don't think it was the entire novel, but a short-story which served as the springboard to completing the whole book. The character Claudia in the series represents the ghost of Anne's deceased daughter.

So the witching hour is the first in the witch series?? Then which one next??

Below is the link to Anne Rice's page, with a listing of all her books, in order of publication, organized into their series (if they are in a series). One thing to note -- two books (Pandora, and The Vampire Armand) were published the same year. If you want to read them in sequence, read Pandora first. I did it the other way around, and I will tell you that doing so spoiled some of the suspense in Pandora by revealing the outcomes in The Vampire Armand. If you want to read all of the vampire books, you'll have to read the three witch books before you start Merrick. Reading Feast of All Saints before Merrick would help as well, but it's not absolutely necessary.

I won't read Twilight either for the same reason. I also poo---pooed Twilight to my grandkid...lol, that didn't stop her from reading and enacting it with her friends though
