Ok, so you guys know I had an issue with a "hen", lol. Due to my beginner status in the chicken world, I thought it was a hen, (go ahead, you can make fun of me, my husband sure did, even though he thought the same thing at first, haha) then a few of you informed me it was a he. Three days later, I got crowing confirmation!
I traded him (and a few bucks) off to two DEFINITE hens (a White Rock, and Columbian Rock are what I suspect them to be, they're extremely popular backyard fowl in my area) from a friend of my Dad's on Saturday. Today, my lovely little WR gave me my very first egg! (Aside from the banty eggs I've been getting.)
I'm so proud of her, and I just wanted you guys to share in my pride and happiness.

We want pictures or it you know what they say. No Picture, it never happened!

Congrats, I am also on my first year of chickens. I started off with chicks so it will be some time (about 10 more weeks) before I get eggs.

Skeptics these days, lmbo!! Thanks for the congrats :) I too started out with chicks that I got around the first of March, but I became too impatient, haha. I had to have some egg layers. This is the most addictive hobby I have ever had!
Here ya go!

Also, while I'm at it, here are a few more

This ^^ is my handsome little Barred Rock that I picked up at my flea market Saturday. (This picture isn't doing him justice at ALL. He's much prettier than this in person!!) He was just so darned beautiful that I couldn't leave without him! I had to cut another rooster from my flock and find him another good home, though. Well worth it!
This last one is a picture of my chicks I got around the first of last month. They're "supposed" to be two RIRs, two Black Giants, a Black Rock, and I'm not sure what the white one is supposed to be....other than bossy, lol. She's probably a Plymouth Rock of some sort, but I dunno. You know how the TSC bins are...

It's kinda crazy how much you can enjoy these little fellers! I have a blast out of them and spend a LOT of time around them. Probably wayyy more time than I should, haha.
