Announcing the new BYC Reputation System: Ovations

In this example, your 104 unique ovations mean 104 different members have given you ovations. Some of them have a voting power higher than 1, so your total ovations number are higher than the number received.

BTW that's an adorable chick in your avatar

oh thats so cool to know, thanks, and that was a Naked Neck Buff Cochin pullet..

Voting power? How is that ranked?
Do individuals know what their 'voting power' number is?

So there's how many ovations you get.
How much your given ovation is worth.
Tho only you know how many ovations you've received.

What a strange culture of personal valuation.

I like to help people learn and understand, don't need anything in return
...... tho a simple thank you from the assisted is always appreciated it certainly isn't necessary to feel self worth.

I like helping around here, there is much to be learn, I like the "Thanks" too, but I am very competitive, and If right now I am at to 0.1% why stop there? I want to be Top 0.001% by years end.. so I am now on 5th Gear(I would be on 6th but I am older model 1981 so 5th is all I have) giving my best, I went from 201 to 277 in about a weeks time..

"Voting Power" is actually pretty complex. The amount of "ovation points" each unique ovation vote gives is based on a plethora of factors including how many ovation points the giver already has. We then do a logarithmic calculation to determine how many points will be awarded.

Basically the easiest way to view it is this: The more ovation points you have, the more weight your ovations to others will carry.

Quote: I can understand where you are coming from, having sat here myself and typed up long winded explanations on many aspects of keeping poultry, only to get that smiley face. However, I personally believe that helping someone becomes it's own reward. Sure, it is nice to see those ovations add up. But when I go away from here knowing that I helped someone save their beloved bird, or helped them understand the hatching process and why not to intervene, I feel just as good even though I received no accolades for this post. Just helping people is rewarding enough.

But what the heck......Here it is....
