I searched, but I am not good at navigating this forum yet. Cross posted in coop design if I can figure out how:

I am thinking a tractor type run would be great for us, but we have a lot of rural predators: dogs, coyotes, foxes, coons. The whole thing that got us interested in chickens was looking at the guineas at the flea market, bc the ticks here are really bad, and Baby's dad has lyme disease.

I can't decide between renting a ditchwitch to bury a fence, which I'd feel safer with, or doing something portable, which would be awesome.

Our lot is on a slope, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

The dug in fence is obviously more secure, but if you want to be able to move you're coop frequently like a tractor, but want more security you could try putting an apron around your fencing about 18 inches like an L. Use hardware cloth but put extra on that lays on the ground about 18 inches out from the edge, that way anything trying to dig in is going to have to dig a long way. Hmmm.... I hope I didn't confuse you on that! LOL. Maybe someone else will come on with more suggestions. Good luck!

I put an apron of hardware cloth 2 feet around my coop. Why not build a coop for a secure home where you will know the chickens are safe, and a tractor to put them in when you are home and can keep an eye on them?
