Are they supposed to have white wing tips and white bums? 3 are mostly black (and bigger) and 2 are smaller with white wing tips and little white bums.

Don't yell but I don't have my pics with me! [IMG]

    Thanks!

There is no standard for Marans yet in America. The proposed standard (which is essentially a translation of the French) is pasted below.

White feathers will be considered a defect if the draft standard is adopted, but most people are more concerned with the color of the eggs.

    Draft Color Standard for
    Brown Red (Black Copper) Marans

    Disqualifications:

White in ear-lobes. Two or more white feathers in plumage.

    Color of Male:

    Beak: Dark Horn.
    Eyes: Reddish bay.
Shanks and Toes: Dark Slate, bottom of feet pinkish white.
    Head: Lustrous deep orange.
Neck: Hackle—Lustrous deep orange with narrow dark stripe through the middle of each feather terminating in a point near its lower extremity.
Front of neck: Black with narrow lacing of deep orange.
Back of neck: Lustrous deep orange.
    Saddle: Same as hackle.
Tail: Main Tail—Black with slight luster,
Sickles and Coverts: Lustrous beetle green black.
    Wings: Shoulders and Fronts—Black.
Bows: Lustrous deep orange to match back.

Breast: Upper breast, black with narrow lacing of deep orange.
    Lower Breast: black.

Thanks Oblio, Like many others, I'm just wanting nice eggs while staying as close to the possible standard as I can.

I'm wondering if the smaller ones may be roos? [IMG]
