Another "broody hen" post... but hear me out!

My broody set up only thing I have done different is now under the cage I open up a feed bag so the the poop falls on the bag to make it easier to clean. I keep mine in there for a few days then let them out if they run straight back to the nesting boxes back in the cage they go.

To break them from being broody I dunk their belly in water and suspend them in a wire cage off the ground.It usually just takes a couple days.Giving them day old chicks rewards them for their hard work but giving a broody unfertilized eggs can cause one to starve to death.It only reinforces their desire to hatch chicks.At this point this poor hen is totally confused and doesn't know what to do.It would be in you and the hens best interest to re-home her to someone who'll let her have chicks.Its their natural instinct to want to raise chicks.I totally agree with other caretakers who've responded to this post.Wishing you and her he best!
