Wow, I know that has to be very rare. How long had you been seeing this bird? Had it got close to you before?

We see some of the yellow ones around here, but the red ones build a nest and hatch babies twice every summer on the porch, in a birdcage made out of twigs. The hummingbirds come the closest to us, and that's just when the feeder is empty. They or the jenny wrens.

Its fun when they do that isn't it? I've had a few of them land on me while out hunting. Helps pass the time watching the little birds flit around.
