Another Crowing Easter Egger Pullet

She's kinda cute for a boy...

Her coloring (not her color) looks kind of hen-ish, kind of roo-ish is what I said. I have one pullet in that sort of black/white/grey color scheme, but my pullet is far less contrast-y than this bird, more grey over the body.

On the other hand, the few pics of black/white/grey EE roos I've ever seen looked more contrast-y as far as I recall, while this one seemed to have some stripey feathers on body.

So I was talking more about the mix of colors being not quite one or the other.

Sorry if I was being confusing.

I'm still confused!

And I missed the 'hen-ish, roo-ish' part, I just saw the 'hen-ish'. It's late, and I'm tired, that's my excuse

Ha, you think you're confused...I was out doing chicken chores this AM and sat down and really looked at the pullet I was referring to above. She looks nothing like this bird, other than having the same individual colors (black white grey brown) . It's amazing sometimes what I see in my mind's eye versus what's out actually walking around in the yard.

I'm still voting roo based on comb color and stance. The unpointy hackle feathers still catch my eye, though.

Lil_timmy, please come back and tell us when you find out for sure & certain.

I have a Black Giant hen, lays a giant egg every day. Crows every morning. Not as loud as a rooster, but otherwise exactly like a rooster.
I told her the other morning "your'e a GIRL! Girls DON'T crow" She shut up. Til I left.

I am pretty sure it is probably a boy as well. Thanks for all your insight. I'll post a update here once I know for sure. I was really hoping for some blue or green eggs too. Oh well have to get another one next year. I guess he will keep the ladies happy

I don't think that hens can actually change sexes, but they can definitely become more masculinized. An associate of mine had a Blue-Laced Wyandotte hen, that around one year of age, suddenly grew spurs and started crowing. I also have an Australorp hen that will mount the subordinate hens in the same exact way that a rooster does. Strange.
