Another Crowing Easter Egger Pullet

Hi,

I have 6 pullets of different varieties. Recently one of my "pullets" has started crowing a bit in the morning and the evening. Usually about 2 or 3 creaky door noises at the start and end of the day. It is pretty cute for now. sHe is my aprox 9 week old EE and I figured she was the dominant female until the crowing. I have heard word here that pullets can and do crow in rare situations. Here is her picture. What do you guys think? This is my first flock ever (=

It is really hard to get good pics of free range chickees!

Currently "her" bumps in the spur area are the same size the other ladies so I'm still not positive.

Any of your thoughts are welcome. I am in a area where it is okay to have roosters so it isn't a big deal. We have already bonded so we can't really think about getting rid of him/her.

I have heard that hens can change sexes... I dont know how accurate that may be... but I have heard this quite a bit.... especially since you have no roosters... you did say you had only pullets right...

That is a difficult one. "Her" coloring is kind of hen-ish, kind of roo-ish, but her hackle feathers don't look very pointy.

That comb is quite red though, redder than some of my EE pullets at 16 weeks. Edited to add, "she" seems to have a kind of roo stance, too.

I'll go out on a limb and vote roo, let us know how it turns out.

If it is only 9 weeks, I think you have a roo. The comb is redder than my EEer pullets... and they are almost 19 weeks. My EE roo was red much earlier.

Not true, a chicken cannot change from being a female to being a male.

If sHE is crowing at 9 weeks old, the she is a HE. He will look more and more like a cockerel as the next weeks pass.​

Her comb is pretty big for a 9 week ee... I say roo.

They also look just like their daddy.

I vote boy as well.
ETA: Chickens can not change their sex, but it is possible for a dominant hen to crow, especially if there is no roo around. But that one is a boy
