I'm only asking about cheap ammo for practice - for defense, it's definitely going to be the high quality stuff. Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

The main reason that I ever got a .40S&W was the unusually large amount of spent brass that I saw at the range. I'd go to the range and easily pick up a hundred or so spent rounds.

Does anyone know of a cheap reloading kit? I'm getting tired of buying federals because they always jam and Winchester's are quite a bit more...

Lee makes a fairly inexpensive reloading kit. I had some friends that had some real inexpensive handloaders as well.
