Another horrible week- I'm not sure my heart can take this!!

I'm so very, very sorry. I wish there was something I could say to help. It's so hard.
I stopped ordering through the mail, not that I ever had any losses, but because I was afraid of just such a thing. I try to either hatch under a broody now, or I get day olds from a local farmer. This isn't easy to do for everyone, though.
Not that it makes you feel any better, but I was having a day where I was not feeling very happy with my fellow human beings, and being reminded that there are people like you out there who care about other living creatures was badly needed.

I am really sorry to hear about your bad experience. I recieved my shipment of chicks from McMurray yesterday and I wasnt expecting them to arrive until today. All chicks arrived well and happy. I would think the problem seems to be with the postal service.

Re call McMurrys, I just got off the phone with one of the office staff,
I got chicks on Monday, I expected them during the week not on a monday and I am in NH.
Chicks are mailed out on Saturday morning or evening shipments and should arrive with in 2 to 3 days.
Mc Murry just credited my account by 11 chicks as they were weak and I have lost so many. not sure but it looks like they may have gotten chilled.

please call them back and ask again and again what is going on, I am sure someone will answer you.
I have dealt with McMurry for many years and I honestly do not understand why everyone is having so many problems once they leave the Hatchery.

My only thought is the issue is with the postal system.

My thoughts and prayers are with your chicks and with you that they arrive soon and safely.

Oh Kezzie, I am so sorry!
I went through the same with my order from Meyers (was supposed to be Express overnight and ended up taking 3 days).
I hope you will be pleasantly surprised with lost of healthy chicks. Please do let us know when they get there!

Yikes, I ordered my chicks from McMurray and was to get them on Monday the 9th, they came to the post office on Saturday the 7th, all the chicks are doing great, I just placed an order from Welp because I was able to get chicks, they are being shipped from Texas, I was told 2 to 3 days, after reading this I am concerned about the 3 days!!!

Has anyone else ordered from Welp, they are out of Iowa like McMurray but get their chicks from Texas. OH BOY

I have ordered from Welp my past 2 batches and have been pretty pleased with the results.
The first batch I only lost one chick.
The second batch, out of my chicks, I lost 2...but It wasn't the hatchery's or postal service's fault - they were huddling near the heat in the brooder, and the other chicks squished them. My neighbors lost 1 after shipping, and 1 to the cat.
Though there were 3 extras in the shipment, so it made up for it.
Other than that, they were all healthy upon arrival. It only took from when they shipped Tuesday, until Thursday early morning to get to NH.... Hope that makes you feel a little better about Welp

Hi everyone,

I've read so many problems with McMurray that I'm going to cancel my May 2nd order. First time ever I ordered from Ideal in Texas and the order arrived as they predicted on time with healthy peepers. I'd be devastated as well if I had the problems I'm reading here. I've learned to take advice and save myself a lot of grief and I think this will be one of those times. Ideal didn't have Americaunas though and I wanted some of those. Anyway, I'm going to place and order with Ideal again and cancel McMurray. Thanks everybody for sharing.
