Another "I can't wait for my chicks to hatch" post

I had the egg in my hand to candle, it felt like a tap on the egg and suddenly the whole egg was dark. No airsac to see like normal.

Maybe. I've never had it happen, but it's possible for sure.

Oh no!!! Are they all ok? I'm sorry. So they still have 5 days left? lol.

No. He killed two hens and my rooster. I believe we caught him as he killed them. The one hen I just rescued last night and she was in another coop. She was an ex battery and just saw grass for the first time last night.... the other hen, at least one of her eggs is being incubated. Now I hope more than ever the eggs hatch so I can have a little piece of her

Aw, so sorry. Awesome that you rescued her! I'm sure she'll have a wonderful loving home now. I hope that they hatch too. Fingers crossed.

No she was one that was killed unfortunately the bear ate her. It’s awful

Oh! I'm sorry. I read that wrong. So sorry. Predators are the worst. Is there any way for you to get rid of the bear? I'm sure he'll be back.

This is the third time he’s been back, that we know of. He’s killed a dozen of the north it’s chickens and has been sighted in broad daylight. He is enormous for a black bear. We are going to try kill him.

Wow. Yeah, he definitely needs to go. How are you going to kill him?

I think you can get a permit to shoot a black bear if it's attacking livestock. On the bright side you can use them as more than a hide since, I've heard their meat is delicious.

Apparently my hen started sitting earlier than I though, cause my app said it was day 18 and now I have 4 out of 9 eggs hatched. On the bright side, I wasn't as anxious cause I thought I had more time. XD
Now I'm really hoping I didn't hurt that one that filled the airsac...
