I have utility strain Pekins as well- no where near the size of a purebred show quality duck- but my little girl is very petite even for a ulility. I will try and get a good pic of her today so you can see the size difference in mine- its raining outside- so I will have to wait a little while.
Being that the utility strains are bred in huge numbers ( on meat farms ) - they often have other breeds brought in for cross breeding to keep vigor in the flock and stop inbreeding. And even of she came from someones back yard flock- she may still be a cross breed- or just small like my girl is.
She is a lovely addition to your flock anyway- they are all such gorgeous ducks. Fiona and Tula especially!!
