Howdy, y'all. New to Back Yard Chickens but been around chickens most of my life especially as a youngster. I had 100 chickens and a handful of ducks as part of my 4H project in Tennessee. Most recently my wife and I kept up to a dozen chickens and a single rooster mostly Rhode Island Reds. I always wanted an Appenzeller Spitzhauben It is a breed I first saw when traveling through that region years ago but for some reason never got one. I just think they are so cool and since my heritage is Swiss I figured it would go well with my Bernese Mountain Dog. I may yet teach the Bernese to pull a cart and then go to our local rural fair with the dog, the cart and a Spitzhauben riding in the cart. Now that would be a sight.

Not much else. I will lurk in the background and learn from others. From what I have read to this point it sounds like y'all got a pretty good handle on raising chickens and it is a good opportunity for me to learn more.
