Hello, just posting to test out how this works and I guess to say hello. I have been interested in chickens casually for many years and have owned a few hens on and off. I have recently become obsessed with the variations and oddities capable of occuring in chickens and finally decided to start another flock of my own (I have some Silkie/Sizzle, Frizzle, Naked Neck, and Showgirl eggs incubating as we speak and couldn't be more excited!) a dream of mine is to one day own a scaleless chicken. I have in the past owned and bred Sphynx cats, Chinese Crested and Xolo dogs, hairless rats and mice, and currently I breed scaleless snakes. My major hobby is being a snake breeder, though I really love all animals. The weirder looking the animal the better for me. I look forward to learning all I can about chickens and this as a serious hobby rather than just as a means to a few eggs. I mostly lurk but here and there I'm sure I'll chime in.

Awesome program you have going on..

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)

G’Day from down under StarseedFarms :frow Welcome and good luck with the hatch!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to BYC! That is quite the animal variety! What on Earth is a Xolo dog?
It is also know as a Mexican Hairless. An ancient breed that is gaining popularity again. They do come in a coated variety as well as hairless except for a small mohawk. Wonderful dogs once you get past the way they look. Never have to worry about shedding, fleas, or wet dog smell! I will not go back to having animals with fur when the hairless counterpart is an option. Well maybe horses cause the only hairless ones have had sever issues with the sun.
