my young faverolle (approx 20-21 weeks) was laying in our nesting box today acting like she was setting the mock eggs. Is this normal for a pullet that isn't even laying yet? Does it indicate she will be laying soon? Learning as I go! TIA for your help!

Yes,I've got one doing the same except she's sitting on walnuts not eggs.

Really? That's adorable. I see your profile pic. Is that a salmon faverolle also? I had to walk through fire to find one from a breeder around my home town but she was worth it. Cutest chickens ever! So does it mean that she'll be laying soon or is she just playing around right now?

Yep that's my nutcracker in the pic. And I'm going to be straight I've got two faverolles one started laying last month she was five months, the "nutty" one is the same age no sign of eggs out of her just play brooding. :)

Hmmm! Ok. Well that's a similar situation. I've got a bantam Cochin that started laying not long ago and went broody after only two weeks of laying (surprise surprise) so it could be a case of monkey see monkey do! Lol! Thanks for your help and hopefully you'll get some eggs soon!

If not it's ok, she's cute so she can take her time
:)

@Chickassan one more thing... do you think this is just a faverolle thing or do other you know if other breeds do it too? Just wondering bc she's my only one doing it and my only faverolle (all my girls are near laying age as well) and I was just thinking it is weird that mine doing this and yours doing this are both faverolles.

Oh lordy no! Faverolles are weird little birds don't ever be suprised at anything they do lol! They are definitely doing it because they're faverolles. :)

Haha! Ok that's what I was thinking. I know mines a bit and she's nothing like my other birds. I tell people all the time I could watch her all day and never stop laughing. Anyway. I'll stop picking your brain now. Thank you again!
