I bought granite for my chickens, so that I could feed them treats and flax seed, and a big can full of dried mealworms, but, when I opened the bag of grit, i saw these chunks that seemed a little... monstrous for a tiny chick, so I checked the bag and it said to feed grit beginning at eight weeks of age.

Can a chick younger than eight weeks eat mealworms and flax seed? Do I need to try to find chick sized granite, or do I have to wait till eight weeks to feed them treats? What treats can the little ones have? Besides yogurt... I know about yogurt.

I was able to find a bag of "chick grit" at TSC. It's little tiny flecks of grit, so I have been using that. My chicks are 2 weeks old and am wondering what I can feed them aside from their starter feed, too ;)

wait till the chicks are about 8 weeks old to feed the treats. Young chicks just need their starter/grower rations and really don't need grit for that. I don't give them grit until I start feeding them cracked grains.
