Another question toward Crele - pg2

Now those are real Creles! Gorgeous, gorgeous!

Crele Penedesencas are barred partridges. Hens are darker and chicks hatch out solid brownish color with white spot on head.

It was a nightmare looking for a true crele chick, never mind a clear good picture(Cackle has one but they are mostly of the sides). So here's a picture of BBR chick down pattern. Crele chicks should look like this, except possibly slightly lighter(side effect of barring) and with a fuzzy white head spot:

Under 100 chickens? Who?! Where?!

Umm still under a hundred here but I'm sensing this is not going to last for long.

Those babies are adorable.

Especially with the genetic feather-fix enablers we have running around. LOL

LOL this is gonna be too much fun.

My name is Cher and I'm on the downhill slide to full blown, full time chicken addiction...

Is a Black Copper Marans BBR by definition? No

OEG's obviously have BBR... Yes

What breeds are BBR and single comb? There is a BBR Phoenix. I am not sure about other breeds

Hmmm, I'll try to take or find a photo of my crele silkie so that someone can tell me whether or not he is a true crele or what.

Is there a list somewhere of which breeds tend to have which E genes?

Oops, another question. A lot of chipmunk striped down patterns are very similar--any place where the differences are displayed side by side so that I can say to myself, "oh--that chick is partridge and that one is a bbr & that one is....etc."

They are birchen, some may be leaky blacks.. some may be both. BC Marans hens are typically black with brown on hackles or even solid black(not desirable but common apparently). So that's a clue right there they are not BBR.

That is a good question actually.. had a hard time thinking of any besides red junglefowl.. someone already mentioned phoneix. The only addition I can think of are Light Brown leghorns. Thought about Welsumers, but they have something that makes them look slightly different, not sure what it is exactly. (males not supposed to have solid black breasts for example)

Another related problem to 'what is a crele' is, the poultry hobby is full of several names for the same trait.. and same name for different traits/genes. BBR, red duckwing, light brown(in some breeds such as leghorns) are all the same thing.

Hmm, well Phoenix would mess up a lot more type than a group of OEG BBR pullets would.

Who does good BBR OEGs? Oh lord I asked that...

100 plus here I come...
