Hey, I'm sorry I didn't reply back right away, it's true that it won't save them, but I have drained my around three times and her health has been remained steady. I have heard of hens passing after the first draining, it may just come down to how damaged the organs are
if you still want to try, I hold my hen upright so all the fluid is in the bottom of the abdomen, then I sterilize a needle with alcahol and use alcohol on the injection point. I usually go in on one side.I pull back on the plunger to make sure there is no blood, then I leave the needle in there for a bit, holding her and letting it drain. Try not to drain too much so they don't go into shock, I would suggest a third of a cup. Watch as many vids as you need to, and she will drip afterward, so give her a clean place and absorbent towel for the day. The risk of infection is important to keep in mind, but also know that they won't get rid of this, and will eventually die, so I think it's worth the risk. Hope this helps!
