Another TSC Bantam Thread

Sounds like a plan! Expect more pictures of some little bantams tonight.. TSC is getting a massive order in, most of which are little banties. I swore I wouldn’t get more, but you just can’t say no to those little faces!

Isn't that the truth?! I had 13 babies on order this spring and started getting bantams from the fed store a week before my order was ready because I just couldn't wait. I will be up to 17 after my stop to pick up my Cackle order in about an hour. And I have a feeling I'll be leaving there with still ap couple more, depending on what they have out for sale when I get there. Please pray for my marriage. I might have to ask hubs for another coop, lol.

Oh Lord, my fingers are crossed for you! I have 13 I believe (I can’t tell most of the Silkies apart) plus 8 keets. Knowing my luck, I’ll walk out of TSC with at LEAST four more chicks. My family adores them just as much as I do, thankfully! The trick is just to not let them know that our sink has been used to wash pasty butt off. I bleached it afterwards, of course, but nobody would ever do the dishes again if they knew that dirty little secret!

Weird. Also, when I called them, they made a point of telling me they dont sell any "game" birds. They call them "Old English," without the game bantam part. Indeed, on their site, it is plain old "old english."

In their pictures on the site, their mille fleurs dont have muffs or beards. Did you notice that? My two mille babies definitely look like they have muffs, not sure if I can tell about the beards.
I didn’t notice that about the Old English but did about the Mille Fleur. A lot of hatchery quality d’Uccles these days are lacking beards and muffs. When I first ordered them about 15 years ago each of each variety had beards and muffs.

There are so many unidentified chicks at TSC! Who votes for me to move to the US, buy every Tractor Supply Center, and put leg bands on the different breeds of chicks? :lau
Haha I’d love to do that too! It’s too bad they don’t franchise. And too bad our TSCs in Canada have so few breeds they don’t need leg bands lol

As promised - though late - more pictures! I snagged four little ones from TSC last week, though one unfortunately passed and I was left with three. I also need some more help on the older chicks’ breeds - Lettie is stumping me!

These are for the white one, Matilda - I was thinking possibly a little bantam Easter Egger? She’s a very *unique* chick, personality-wise. She’s extremely sweet, but also extremely quirky. The little black and white one is Poppy, who I’m guessing is a mottled Japanese. I snapped these during their little Easter photo shoot, hence the background. 8 days old.

Still stumped on her - some of the guesses were that she’s a silver partridge Brahma, but she looks nothing like the ones her age. 22 days old.

With the last pictures, people thought she looked like a Cornish - is that still true? 22 days old.

Again, just confirming - Cornish? I’m guessing he’s a little Roo. Sorry about the bonus poo next to him! 22 days old.
