Math... all three breeds are great choices. I like the way you think.

Are your Marans French? or clean-legged? I really love my Sussex (seen you over there in the Sussex thread) and I do like my Maran girls too. I just, PERSONALLY, don't want to breed the Marans. There are plenty on that cruise ship already. I get drawn to the rarer things. But they are a great breed especially if you want the darker eggs... Marans are a great choice for that.

AHEM. AHEM, AHEM, just to get this thread back on the topic of DELAWARES instead of those flitty Frenchified marans (JUST KIDDING! I want some someday myself) I thought I would announce that my Delaware pullet Emma started to lay in all the cold nasty weather we have had, and is producing several nice little eggs a week. I am proud of her!!!!

I can't get good pics of her, because she is always wanting to be on my lap;

Don't you love the laundry in the background? The barn towels got washed!

I was wondering if I could get some input on these dellies. I have 3 pullets from this year I will place in a separate post. They are light on color so looking for conformation information

*edit for age* Boy was I off. I found the purchase papers and these chooks are 16.75 months old... so I was off by half a year
