I hope she grows out as well as she is showing she might! They DO change SO much! Maybe her changes will make her even better!

I have never had a chicken respond positively to that and I tried it a lot early on. They do respond to positive reinforcement though. Mostly around food.

Walt, thanks! I was hoping you would jump in here and see her. It will be fun to watch what happens. I don't remember any of my girls having that much tail black at that age- will have to go back and look at pictures.

Thanks, too, Cindiloo- spelling and all.

Yes! Emma is Ike's grand - and very chunky- I am delighted with her. I love how all four of those 8 week old chicks are Ike's grands, and three are Suede's grands. Those little Orp/Del crosses have the Del friendliness and curiosity, and the Orp propensity to scream at the top of their lungs. Sometimes Ultrasuede just stands and watches them with the most bizarre expression on his face -like he doesn't know whether to be proud, or to start making excuses and apologize for them.

Oh too funny! Kind of like the look Chief gets on his face when one of his girls does something really dumb...like tipping over the empty treat bin, even though she's been shown 3 times in the last hour that it is indeed, EMPTY!!

He looks embarrassed to say the least!
