Answer to the Delaware Dilemma

I was so excited to see that it was speckled, I remember some of the eggs you sent me Cyn had speckles and were a peach color.
I love the different tones of browns. Peaches, tans, medium browns, khakis, etc.

ETA: I'm happy to see her laying, she was such a runt as a chick.

Well, I'm glad you said something before I jumped in there and made a fool of myself!

I was thinking it must be the middle egg! I can be forgiven, can't I, for having never seen a Del egg before?

Hey Kathy! Thanks for bumping this one. I really would have hated to see it fade off into obscurity. There's just so much valuable information in it, and I hope there is a great deal more to come. Funny, but I was just thinking about this thread today!

Kathy, is that Oliver in your pictures? That beautiful body!!!! And second picture down, the girl in the middle has a pretty open triangle in her tail - I think you should put Oliver on the Heritage thread.

What a beautiful sight to see this morning. Love the pictures Kathy!

Beth, thank you for pointing the tail out. I couldn't visulize the "triangle" now I understand! Quite a difference and I like the triangle tail much better.

Now I am going to have to go look at my girls tails, you have me wondering.

Beth, the boy in these pictures is Alexander. All 3 pictures, in fact. Oh, yea, I do see the difference in the pinched tail and the more triangular tail in these pictures.

Thanks, Amy. I do love it here. We have a 4 acre plot of ground, with half of it being timber. It goes about 1 acre deep and is like a rectangle. Where the tree line to the timber begins (in the back, just at the rear side of our big layers coop) is where our land ends. That is the neighbor's timber there. It is also about an acre deep and then there is a huge pond. Here they call it a lake. You can kinda see the water in that last picture. It is about the size of a couple acres. The neighbors encourage us to free range, and love our chickens (and eggs). We have no neighbor houses very close to us.

I love letting them all free range. It is such a site to go outside and they all coming running up to me. Visitors seem to enjoy that, too. By the way, that lush green yard is about 90% crab grass. I gave up (2 years ago) trying to control it.

We have a policy around here....If it's green, encourage it to grow. If it's on the noxious weed control list, encourage it to grown anyway, but keep it out of sight of the main road!

One man's noxious weed is another woman's pretty spring wild flowers!
