Antibiotic dosage for gosling?

I've just been using blue spray on it, and she is back out with her friends now. The wound was very deep and wide, but it has almost closed together inside (it looks like it went through two muscles). There's still a layer on top that is open but it is dry.

If it was a bite from a dog, I would encourage you to use penecillin. I would give 1/2 CC twice a day for short acting penecillin or 1 CC once per day for long acting. Also, blue-kote is a good idea, but remember it dries the wound. If it's scabbing and ripping over and over, switch to Red-Kote which moisturizes and is better for long and wide wounds.

If it's just a wound from a cut or getting caught on something, I would probably skip the antibiotics until you saw sign of infection. Waterfowl have a very high body temperature which makes them extremely susceptible to infection. However, a deep penetrating wound into a muscle is an idea haven for anerobic bacteria to harm your bird.
