Yesterday we introduced 3 gorgeous black cochin ladies to our existing flock. All of them are between 13 & 14 weeks old.
It was absolutely hysterical to watch the antics going on the second we entered the run with the rubbermaid tub with the 3 new ladies in it.
The top rooster, Big Boss, who is an EE came running out to see what this big blue thing was. Percy, who's a Barred Rock immediately jumped onto the bin and looked down into it, then crowed!
I took them out one by one and introduced them to the flock. Immediately Big Boss started to dance around them, clucking his little heart out, crowing a bit, flapping his wings and just being the fool.
My grandson and I laughed watching the antics of this crazy rooster as he greeted the new ladies. The rest of the roosters all stayed back and let BB do his welcoming dance. It was just so cool to watch.
Henny Penny, the head hen, who's a Barred Rock, immediately began to peck at them and BB stepped in and put her in her place and then continued his dance. He even went over to the raspberry bushes and brought each one of the ladies a leaf.
I was kicking myself for not bringing my camera with me.
Next time, I'll be prepared. The transition went smoothly and BB is happiest of all!! LOL
