Antivirus software

I would say get rid of Norton, its a huge resource hog and expensive. It also does not agree with windows 7 at all...constant crashes and freeze ups. I am currently running the freee windows defender from microsoft, it has never missed a virus or attempted malware attack.

I respectfully disagree with 6chix; I have never had any resource or crashing or freezing issues whatsoever. It may vary by computer and how much RAM we each have, etc., but I've never had a problem.

The newest version of Webroot was taking up over 20% of my overall physical memory. I went from having 90% in use to having about 60% in use after uninstallation. As much as I don't want to admit it, my computer is about 3 1/2 years old now and it can't handle as much as it used to! I have to start getting rid of photos on my computer after backup. Between that and music, most of my hard drive is full.

Norton 360 used to crash my vista machine every time it did a full scan, but did not do it to the Windows 7 machine.

AVG missed a virus that Norton360 picked right up.

Norton for multi computers is fairly cheap at Costco

(that same AVG missed issue also attacked a friends Mac)

Guessing, it depends more on what you are using for a computer and the sites you visit.

My dad used to use AVG, but he didn't like it. I had used Trend when I first got my computer and that worked well. I switched to webroot because my uncle was working for the company at the time and offered free software for me.

I mostly just visit sites like BYC, Facebook, and the like. I'm not big with downloading except from itunes and I don't play online games or anything. I run into the most problems searching for photos for artwork on google. Webroot picked up all the viruses that ever tried to get into my system really well, so I'm worried any other program will not do the same. I'm completely backed up though. It would just be a major pain to have to restore my system!
